Hapag – Lloyd Cruises

In the German-speaking region, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is the leading cruise brand in the luxury and expedition segment. It currently has five ships in its fleet, among them two ships for the international clientele. Sustainability and the environment are of immense importance to Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. Since 2020, the whole fleet has been running on low-pollutant marine gas oil and foregoes heavy fuel oil.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ships are small, individual and outstanding in their class: the EUROPA class of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises comprises the EUROPA and EUROPA 2. It offers the highest standard of cruise experiences with excellent service, varied cuisine and exceptional routes around the world.

Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is expanding in the expedition segment with three state-of-the-art ships: the HANSEATIC nature and HANSEATIC inspiration – the first two ships in the new, three-ship expedition class – were launched in 2019. In 2021, the HANSEATIC spirit completed the fleet. The new expedition class features cutting-edge environmental technology such as SCR catalytic converters and is equipped to use cold ironing. The highest ice class and a shallow draught enable routes to the polar regions of the Arctic and the Antarctic as well as to warm-water destinations such as the Amazon.

According to Insight Guides Cruising & Cruise Ships, formerly Berlitz Cruise Guide, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is awarded as the best cruise ship fleet in the world. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is the only provider to achieve 5-star awards. The testers evaluated more than 340 ships and awarded top marks to all five luxury and expedition ships of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

Over the last decade, Hapag-Lloyd Cruises has been focusing its marketing efforts more strongly towards attracting English-speaking guests. The EUROPA 2, launched in 2013, and the HANSEATIC inspiration, launched in 2019, were built specifically for the international marketplace. The crew, of course, is also fluent in English as well as the experts on board.
